I have tried lots of ways to remove filters in the past. Most of them are a bit hit and miss and would always be left behind if my bag was full.

To cut a long story short, I cut a circle out of a piece of rubber my largest lens diameter is 105mm so I made it 112 or thereabouts. If a filter gets stuck and they usually get stuck on Lee filter rings which are a real pain to remove, simply place the ring or the lens filter down on to the rubber circle and apply even pressure from above and turn to release the filter, if it is really stuck a little bit of WD40 applied with the red straw will help. It can stay in your camera bag (or in my case one in each bag I use) cost about £2.25 each(304.8mm×1304.8mm sheet of rubber makes 4) If you already have a circle cutter if not a circle cutter costs about £8.
