I’m not sure who thought this was a good location for their team portrait. The history of this building is fascinating, the land was purchased in 1918 by Jack Holden a successful sheep farmer. The original building on the site was partially destroyed in an earthquake in 1931. At that time it was occupied by a drapery called Sunderland’s Drapery owned by Francis Nutter. The current building was constructed in the Art Deco style to replace the damaged building and the drapery changed its name to Nutters, they stayed in the building until the 1960’s
