On my way to retrieve our Audio Moth sound recorder and take some 4x5 photographs of the corn fields near our studio this morning I heard a radio program about Elstree studios. Hitchcock made Blackmail at Elstree studios in 1929, it was the first British film to have sound, they said.
When I got to our studio it was windy and the scene dictated a fairly deep depth of field and fast shutter speed so I kept this HP5 and Portra I was shooting at 400. The light was beautiful but intermittent, I stood there for half an hour waiting for the wind to die down and the sun to come through the clouds simultaneously.
