Fixing my old Nikon F3 High Point.
Other than a broken left-side rewind column and ISO dial assembly my F3 HP is in beautiful condition if not a little dusty. I used to have a motordrive I think mainly because it looked so good in the film Kalifornia with Michelle Forbes. In reality I have never really loved using 35mm slrs for work mainky because I found too much grain to be a distraction and prefered the ergonomics of larger format cameras…
…Many years ago (Maybe 20?) this camera was dropped by a friend while engaging in rock and rock behaviour for Kerang magazine. It has been on a shelf periodically being taken out filled with batteries fired and then returned to its shelf, actually various shelves as I moved around London and further afield. One day I thought I would get round to fixing it, always a little worried about disturbing its delicate electronics.
Last week I found some parts for it and having improved my electronic ability I have decided to replace the left-side rewind column and ISO dial assembly. I have a service manual with some pictures so when the parts arrive later in the week I will attempt to mix the working parts from each and get this F3 HP back in working order.
