Terry Tabloid. This is a short film written by Stuart Wright directed by me.  We shot this over two days with Ryan O'Toole directing the cinematography. The music was composed by Tim Phillips.

This is my first attempt at directing and I enjoyed it so much I can’t wait to start on our next film. We are going to make a series of films under the title “A Stunted Caricature of a Citizen”  The script for the next is almost complete.

Dj Diddy Wah NTS Radio 27th Jan by John Hooper

Diddy Wah w/ Adam Weatherhead - 27th January 2014 by Nts Radio on Mixcloud

My friend Adam asked me to be the “John” on his monthly radio show for NTS radio in Dalston which was “John” Themed. I talk none sense about being called John, talk about work coming up and I introduce one of my favorite songs Johnny Too Bad by the Slickers.

I recently went to Penzance in Cornwall for a show from Spectrum (see more here). I traveled down with my friend Mark Lascelles Thornton (see his work here) and we stayed at a brilliant hotel in Mousehole. On the way back we decided to awake at 5.30 to catch the sunrise over Dartmoor. We set of from the hotel in pitch darkness but by the time we got to Dartmoor we realised we were in the clouds and for the sunrise we had a view about 5 inches from the ends of our feet. As the clouds lifted I managed to get some great photos of the landscape.

This interesting package dropped through my door yesterday. The year before last I worked with Peter Nencini, Tom Railton, Ryan Todd, Laurence Byrne on a project for the Canal & River Trust curated by Nous Vous. This is a souvenir from that show.

Mark Lascelles Thornton in Blackpool by John Hooper

This is my friend Mark Lascelles Thornton who is nearing the end of what can only be described as drawing sadism. For the last two years Mark has been working on “The Happiness Machine” an 8 panel pen and ink on paper drawing 8ft x 5ft depicting a city scape combining the tallest buildings from around the world. See Marks site here for the details of the amazing drawing.

Richard Hawley, Sharons Cafe, Castle Market, Sheffield by John Hooper

This first image is from a shoot I did with Richard Hawley; some time ago for the Guardian Guide. I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time because I was looking for a different thing for the final images but looking back today I really like this image. The focus is on his hand and there is a lot going on but its this which make the image interesting to me now. The image below is from later on in the day after a tour of the Henderson’s Relish factory.  Other shots from this shoot here.
